Kieron Home

Kieron was born in 2003, eight weeks earlier than scheduled. He weighed just 4lb 8oz and spent his first month in an intensive care unit in Liverpool.

Kieron is now 5 years old and has numerous conditions that affect his day to day life. He was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at birth, this condition affects all 4 of Kierons limbs preventing him from doing what we would like to call "normal things". Kieron cannot stand, walk or roll and has limited use of his good left hand. Kieron undergoes intense physio at the Bobath Centre  & Therapy 4 Kidz in London which has seen him sit unsupported for a short while on his own, an unbeliveable achievement!

Kieron has extensive learning difficulties that prevents him from talking or communicating, due to a deletion of chromosone 15 that has been detected by the geneticists. This disorder has been classed as very rare and as yet is not researched. Kieron has also been diagnosed with Epilepsy after several lengthy convulsions and is often admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties following a seizure.

Kieron attends Blackfriars school in Newcastle Under Lyme, with specialst help from Clive Lilley, Jane Danbach and all of the excellent staff he has now managed to spoon feed himself, is starting to communicate through Picture Exchange System (PECS) and interactive touchscreen computers, which to us seemed totally impossible a few months ago.

As you will imagine, looking after Kieron is very difficult indeed as he requires constant 24hr care. But guess what! He's the happiest little boy we have ever met and we would not change him for the world!!
